When picking your wedding venue, your first instinct might be a place that is nearby and accessible for your guests. Although taking travel and convenience into consideration is important, finding a locale that won't break your budget is just as crucial. And considering the average wedding cost jumped from $27,000 in 2017 to $44,000 in 2018, it's never been more paramount (or difficult) to save every penny.
Enter finance website WalletHub which compared 180 cities across the United States across 27 key indicators, including wedding friendliness, average wedding cost, stunning venues, event spaces, and hotel availability to find which city was the best bang for your wedding buck. And it turns out, surprisingly, tying the knot in a city wedding is not as unrealistic as one would think. According to the website's study, the top wedding-friendly cities are also some of the biggest urban landscapes in the country. Below are the top 10 cities that are the overall best places to get married in 2019.
- Orlando, Florida
- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles
- Atlanta
- Miami
- San Francisco
- Chicago
- San Diego
New York City
Austin, Texas
The study also ranked cities in separate categories, including churches per capita, wedding planners per capita and bridal boutiques per capita. In the 'most attractions per capita' category, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco all tied for first place, unsurprisingly. As for best weather, it should come as no shock that six of the top cities were located in sunny climates.
So whether or not you plan to tie the knot in a quaint, rural ceremony or in the center of a big city, we recommend taking a full look at WalletHub's ranking to see which city you can get the most for your wedding budget.
