If You're Dreaming of Owning Meghan Markle's Engagement Ring, We Have Some Bad News

If you had a royal freakout when Meghan Markle debuted her beautiful engagement ring from Prince Harry, you're not alone. Everyone was seemingly swooning over the stunning sparkler-us included! In fact, the royal jewelers who crafted that ring fit for a queen have been fielding countless requests to replicate the bauble. But they have some bad news for customers looking to score a similar sparkler: No copycats allowed.

Late last month, Clarence House announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were set to wed, and all eyes were on the bride-to-be's new engagement ring during the couple's first public appearance as an engaged couple. In The Sunken Gardens of Kensington Palace, the beaming pair posed hand-in-hand for photos with Meghan's ring glittering on her finger. The three-stone sparkler was designed by Prince Harry himself and features a center stone from Botswana-where they couple previously vacationed together-and two side diamonds that belonged to the groom's mother, Princess Diana. The ring was crafted by Cleave and Company, and the jeweler has been receiving repeated requests to replicate the ring.

The sudden attention and inundation of inquires was "a bit of a shock," the director of Cleave and Company, Stephen Connelly, told the Associated Press. But this special sparkler won't be replicated.

“We're not going to be making replicas of it,” Connelly said, according to Vanity Fair. “If you want a ring, then we'll design you a different one.” Sorry, but Meghan's royal ring will remain one-of-a-kind!

Former Crown jeweler David Thomas, who worked on the ring himself, calls it the “biggest and hardest secret” he'd ever been entrusted with. Talk about pressure! And along with whipping up lookalikes, Thomas also refuses to reveal the cost of the precious piece. "Jewelers are like doctors," he said. "We never discuss our patients!"
